2,2'-Dithio salicylic acid dimethyl ester is the dimethyl ester of 2,2'-dithiodibenzoic acid. The molecule contains two methyl ester groups ortho to an aromatic disulfide bridge, giving it both electron-withdrawing and redox-active character. It is air-stable, freely soluble in dichloromethane, ethyl acetate, hot ethanol and toluene, and practically insoluble in water.
