Readily oxidized in air to diphenyl disulfide; miscible with most organic solvents, sparingly soluble in water. Used as a chain-transfer agent in polymer synthesis, a precursor to pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals, and a ligand in organometallic chemistry. Store under nitrogen, protected from light and moisture.
