Product Description

2,2'-Difluoro diphenyl disulfide is an aromatic difluoro-disulfide in which fluorine atoms are located ortho to the –S–S– bridge on both benzene rings. The compound is essentially odourless, stable under ambient conditions, freely soluble in hot ethanol, ethyl acetate and dichloromethane, and practically insoluble in water.
Key physicochemical data:
Melting point: 75–78 °C (lit.)

Log P (octanol/water): 4.3 (predicted)
Typical uses:
Central precursor for bis-benzothiazine-1,1-dioxide COX-2 inhibitors after oxidation of the sulfur to sulfone.
Building block for bis-aryl-sulfone pharmaceutical impurities and agro-chemical standards.
Internal standard for GC-MS quantitative analysis of difluoro-disulfide residues.
