Bifunctional aromatic dithiol combining two benzylic –SH groups para-oriented on a benzene ring. The short methylene spacer confers high nucleophilicity and excellent chain-extending/cross-linking ability, making the compound a key building block for:
High-refractive-index poly(aryl sulfide) resins (nD ≈ 1.70) used in OLED encapsulation and 5G lens substrates;
Self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) on Au or Ag surfaces, providing dense, defect-free films for SERS sensors and MEMS anti-stiction layers;
Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) and coordination polymers where the two sulfur atoms act as soft donor sites for Cu⁺, Ag⁺ or Pd²⁺ nodes;
Epoxy/PU curing agents imparting enhanced adhesion, chemical resistance and flexibility at low loading (1–3 wt %);
Optical polymer waveguides owing to low optical loss (<0.1 dB cm⁻¹ at 1.55 µm) and high thermal stability (Td > 350 °C).
The product is packed under nitrogen in aluminium foil bags or HDPE drums; store at 2–8 °C away from oxidants and light.
